Book Title and Cover Plan

First draft of stories are due at the start of class on Friday, November 8 . We have a book title: A Trick of the Light We have a cover team: Front Cover: Noah Parry Back Cover: Harley Maxwell Cover art should be at a ratio for 6 inches by 9 inches and should include a quarter inch bleed (this has been discussed with the artists)

Humour in Writing

Today, after the excellent and funny presentation by author Richard Van Camp this morning, we watched this video on how to have humour in your writing . Reminder that we are hoping to have first drafts done by Monday, October 28 (extended).

Story Due Date and Book Title Ideas and Cover Art All Call

The first draft of our stories are due by Wednesday, November 6. Students who are interested in creating a cover for our book should let Mr. Davidge know by the end of this week.  By the end of next week (Oct 18) they should share 3 colour images for review - either digital (preferred) or hard copy.  These can be shared in a google folder to jcdavidge@educbe.ca. Hero's Journey and Harrison Bergeron

Last class we had a lesson on the Hero's Journey as defined by Joseph Campbell. Tomorrow we are going to read a short story Harrison Bergeron  by Kurt Vonnegut.

Short Story Planning

Today we did an inspiration writing exercise to help plan our story. Students were also given their Story Plan sheet that should be shared with me by Monday, September 23. Welcome to my blog for Creative Writing 9.  Here you can find course updates, learning resources and other items related to the glorious craft of storytelling. More details will be shared later but in general we will be focused on writing/publishing our annual short story anthology and then developing spoken word pieces.
